class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">L&#8217;\u00e9chelle imagin\u00e9e par l&#8217;amiral britannique Beaufort, au d\u00e9but du XIXe si\u00e8cle, estime la vitesse du vent selon ses effets sur la marche d&#8217;un voilier, l&#8217;\u00e9tat de la mer, la fum\u00e9e des chemin\u00e9es et les arbres \u00e0 terre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"> Pour concevoir cette \u00e9chelle, l&#8217;amiral utilisa la voilure de la fr\u00e9gate qu&#8217;il commandait comme instrument de mesure et d\u00e9termina 12 degr\u00e9s ou intervalles de vitesse de vent.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>En 1874, l&#8217;utilisation de l&#8217;\u00e9chelle de Beaufort <\/strong>est:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Adopt\u00e9e internationalement comme date \u00e0 laquelle l&#8217;Organisation m\u00e9t\u00e9orologique mondiale d\u00e9cide que les observateurs en mer <strong>utiliseront le n\u0153ud comme unit\u00e9 de mesure de la vitesse du vent.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">L&#8217;\u00e9chelle  continue d&#8217;\u00eatre utilis\u00e9e en m\u00e9t\u00e9orologie marine, en particulier dans la r\u00e9daction des bulletins de pr\u00e9vision marine.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On parle alors de<em> \u00ab force \u00bb<\/em> du vent. Ainsi la force 4 correspond \u00e0 la <em>\u00ab jolie brise \u00bb<\/em> et la force 10 correspond \u00e0 la \u00ab temp\u00eate \u00bb.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>L&#8217;echelle beaufort est une estimation relativement impr\u00e9cise, <\/em>&#8220;pifom\u00e9trique&#8221;, empirique,  invent\u00e9e quand les instruments de mesure \u00e9taient archa\u00efques . <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\">Quelques Pr\u00e9cisions importantes:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\"><br>A vrai dire entre Le <strong>bas<\/strong>( du range) d&#8217;une force et le <strong>haut<\/strong> (du range) <br>il y a entre un <strong>\u00e9cart 4 et 5 n\u0153uds.<\/strong><br>(c&#8217;est beaucoup vous croyez etre encore \u00e0 force 5 mais  en r\u00e9alit\u00e9 vous \u00eates d\u00e9j\u00e0 \u00e0 force 6)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>par exemple <\/em>force 6<\/strong> signifie que le vent soufle <em>entre<\/em> 22 ET 27 N\u0153uds<br> donc vent qui oscille entre \u00e0 27 30 N\u0153uds vous \u00eates \u00e0 force 7<br> et en plus selon<strong> l&#8217;\u00e9diteur <\/strong>de l&#8217;\u00e9chelle il peut y avoir des diff\u00e9rences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\">attention aux rafales<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\">Vent instantan\u00e9, vent moyen et rafaleL&#8217;air s&#8217;\u00e9coule en g\u00e9n\u00e9ral irr\u00e9guli\u00e8rement <br>entrainant une forte variabilit\u00e9 du vent en direction et en force.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\"> <br>C&#8217;est pourquoi, les m\u00e9t\u00e9orologues mesurent le vent instantan\u00e9 qui varie sans cesse<br> et le\u00a0<strong>vent moyen<\/strong>\u00a0calcul\u00e9 sur une p\u00e9riode de 10 minutes qui figure dans les bulletins. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\"><br>Lorsque la vitesse du vent instantan\u00e9 d\u00e9passe celle du vent moyen de plus de 10 n\u0153uds (18 km\/h)<br> les m\u00e9t\u00e9orologistes parlent de\u00a0<strong>rafale<\/strong>. <br>Lors d&#8217;une rafale, la direction du vent peut varier de plus de 45\u00b0. <br>Si la diff\u00e9rence de vitesse entre vent instantan\u00e9 et vent moyen<br> est comprise entre 15 et 25 n\u0153uds (entre 28 et 46 km\/h), on parle de \u00ab fortes \u00bb rafales.<br> Lorsque cette diff\u00e9rence exc\u00e8de 25 n\u0153uds (46 km\/h) il s&#8217;agit de \u00ab violentes \u00bb rafales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>La variabilit\u00e9<\/strong> du vent (force, direction) en un endroit donn\u00e9 est g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement forte.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">C&#8217;est pourquoi les m\u00e9t\u00e9orologues mesurent le vent<strong>&nbsp;\u00ab instantan\u00e9 \u00bb<\/strong>&nbsp;et le vent&nbsp;<strong>\u00ab moyen \u00bb<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Le vent instantan\u00e9<\/strong>&nbsp;est mesur\u00e9 sur une p\u00e9riode de<strong>&nbsp;3s.&nbsp;<\/strong><br><strong>Le vent moyen<\/strong>&nbsp;est calcul\u00e9 sur une p\u00e9riode de<strong>&nbsp;10 minutes.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Une&nbsp;<strong>rafale<\/strong>&nbsp;est une brusque augmentation du&nbsp;<strong>vent instantan\u00e9<\/strong>,<br>&nbsp;<strong>d\u00e9passant le vent moyen de plus de 10 n\u0153uds<\/strong>&nbsp;(18 km\/h). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>&nbsp;Lors d&#8217;une rafale,&nbsp;<strong>la direction du vent peut \u00e9galement varier,<\/strong>&nbsp;<br>tournant quelquefois de plus de 45\u00b0 par rapport \u00e0 celle du vent moyen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\"><br> &nbsp;Les rafales le <em>temps d&#8217;\u00e9coulement d&#8217;un sablier<\/em>.<br> Le nombre r\u00e9sultant, exprim\u00e9 en n\u0153uds, mesure donc une<strong> vitesse <\/strong>et<br> <strong>non pas une longueur.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\">Diff\u00e9rences marine anglaise et fran\u00e7aise<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\">Il est a noter que dans la<strong> marine fran\u00e7aise<\/strong>, les n\u0153uds \u00e9tait espac\u00e9s <br>de 47 pieds et demi soit <em>15 m\u00e8tres et 43<\/em> centim\u00e8tres et <br>le sablier \u00e9talonn\u00e9 sur une<em> p\u00e9riode de 30 secondes&nbsp;<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\"><sup>Alors que dans la<em>
